Contact form messages aren’t arriving
People say they’ve filled in the contact form on your website, but their messages never reach you.
Applies to: Websites built with a website builder or content system that has a contact form.
Try these steps
Check spam and junk
Look in your spam or junk folder. Search your mailbox for the name or email address of someone who says they wrote to you.
Send yourself a test
Fill in your own form using a different email address from the one that receives it, for example a personal address. Note the time you sent it.
Check where the form sends
Open your website builder’s form settings and find the notification or “send to” email address. Make sure it’s correct and still in use. Forms often still point at an old address or a former colleague.
Look for stored submissions
Many website builders also keep a copy of every form submission in their dashboard. If you find messages there that never reached your inbox, the form is working but the email notification isn’t.
Check it worked
Your test message arrives in your normal inbox, not spam, within a few minutes.
When to stop and ask for help
- The address is correct but your test still doesn’t arrive.
- Messages appear in the dashboard but never by email. This is usually an email delivery setting.
- The fix would mean editing code or your domain’s settings (DNS).
